Your Questions About Movie Download Sites Legal

Helen asks…

Where can I legally get videos to post on youtube?

I want to add a bunch of music videos and just random videos to my website and my youtube account. Where can I find these? I want to make sure that its legal for me to post them on youtube and my site though.

admin answers:

I don’t know but everyone does it. Like everyone says…you’re not supposed to but people have downloaded the FULL Harry Potter movie, a bunch of “official” music videos, TV shows, and other FULL length movies. So, I’m not saying it’s okay but I don’t know what else to tell you…

Is using a torrent like Pirate Bay Illegal or what makes it illegal?

If it is why aren’t these torrent sites shut down? Is it illegal for me to download some free games I want for PC from Pirate Bay? If they are available the uploader or the creator should get in trouble not whoever uses it. I have a DSL connection, would my company catch me?

admin answers:

The official US Policy on this is as follows.

It is not illegal to download, host, offer, or run a site containing copyrighted material.

However it is what you do with this material that defines the legality.

If you own a movie on DVD and you decide you want to have a copy on your computer. You are entitled to download that movie.

If you download a video file that you do not own a professional copy of, well you have not violated any laws yet. As soon as you play that movie or send it to a friend or a site, you have borken the law.

Alot of novice techs and consultants make this comon mistake but the truth is, you may download anything you want, it’ the application that defines wether or not you boke the law.

As this is the official policy in the states, the rule here is that major violators are the ones under the microscope.

Typically your DSL Provider will not report what you are doing. And usually the common user will never see a single legal notice for downloading. Now bootlegers who download and mass produce these videos/music/software for profit are the ones targeted.

Also if you are downloading large amounts (300 full length moview or more per month), you are autotagged.

Another thing to think about is torrents ue trackers to know who has which files and how much of those files they have so it can tap in and download from that resource. This is how they download so fast.

Where can I download full length 1080p movies?

I want to know where I can download full 1080p motion pictures. It does not matter to me if I have to pay, or if it’s free. It doesn’t matter to me much either if it’s legal or not (although I’d prefer for it to be legal). Also, if it’s possible to download them without a torrent (for example, directly from a website), that would be great. Thanks in advance.

admin answers:

You won’t find 1080p movies on a website. They’re 8-100GB in size so they can’t be uploaded in one file to DDL sites. And legitimate sites You have to pay for don’t have the bandwidth or space to host that amount of data. Thus the appeal of torrents. If You were to get it from a torrent file, the files are coming from different people.

How do I download films to play on my IPOD?

Hi!
This is something we have all wanted to do ever since Apple released video-capable iPods. Here’s a couple of popular ways to get them onto your iPod.

1. ITunes Store
If you already have iTunes (if not, download at site below), you have access to the iTunes Store (below ‘radio’ on the sidebar). From here you can link up a credit card or purchase iTunes Gift Cards (from the Apple Store) to download songs ($0.99), movies ($12.99), tv shows/music videos ($1.99), podcasts (free), and more. If you download movies from the iTunes Store, they go straight into your iTunes purchased folder, and from then on it’s just drag and drop into iPod.
2. Handbrake
If you don’t live in a country with iTunes Movie Store access (like us here in Australia), you can simply convert your favourite DVDs into iPod compatible files. The best way to do this is through Handbrake (see links below), a FREE open-source software. You simply insert a DVD, open the application, click convert and choose a format (many are available, including PlayStation3, iPod touch, Apple TV etc). Please note though that it’s only available for us Mac owners, but I’m sure there are many Windows equivalents.
3. Other LEGAL downloads
If none of these options work for you, I can suggest that you use some other websites I have found, such as AOL and Amazon. These sites basically use the same mechanism as iTunes.
4. Finally
There are some sites I have excluded from my article. Notably, file sharing sites. I highly unrecommend these sites, as they are notorious for viruses, spam, and spyware. Some safe sites are Limewire and eMule, although because it (like all others) relies on user content, there is always the chance of a virus within the program. Bad websites for file sharing that you should not download at all costs are BearShare, Blubster and Kazaa as they will install adware on your computer. There are also other bad websites pretending to promise legal movie downloads with their 3-day-trial application, that will cause screen-size, unclosable pop-ups when the trial is up. The worst of the bunch are Movieland, Moviepass and Popcorn. You can check out more about these with the links below. Other sites you should not go near are EZ-tracks and Zango, as simply finding your movie selection is difficult enough with all the pop-ups! Anyway, don’t let this alarm you, but try to steer clear of the dodgy sites. Generally if you trust the brand (like iTunes and Amazon), you’re good to go. Another great way of seeing whether a site is bad or not is through SiteAdvisor (see below).

I hope this will solve your problem!
