OK – here’s what I would do.

1) Stop downloading movies. Your chances of getting caught get higher and higher every day and the more you download. Movie companies are getting better and better at detecting it, and you CAN get stuck with an expensive lawsuit or having to pay a large settlement. It’s just better to legally buy them. The only thing I torrent are software programs for ripping movies.

2) Go on Amazon and buy the movie. You can get it less expensive. Just be careful how much you buy because there’s no taxes and the gov’t can audit you for not paying taxes on it.

3) Get a program called DVDFab which will take the original DVD and make copies for your various devices. It will also work on Blu Ray movies if you have a Blu Ray drive. You can also make copies onto a blank DVD or a blank Blu Ray disc if you’re afraid of the original getting damaged. It costs money for the program, but let me tell you – it is WELL worth it.

4) Or get Requiem 3.3.5 and iTunes 10.5.3. Provide an e-mail and I’ll send the link to it. It even has the right version of iTunes to download right on the site so you don’t have to go looking for it. Then buy the move on iTunes, erase the DRM with Requiem, and then get a free converter program to convert it to the device you wanna watch it on. I use Freemake Video Converter for it.

– DON’T use windows movie maker, it dosen’t give you a lot of options, i mean you could use it but i would recommend for you not to.

I will give you some sites to download. Don’t worry, they’re safe and I’ve used them all. Some work better than others, but be sure you have a computer that can handle multitasking. Of all the ones I prefer, I prefer the Virtual Dub method as it is the fastest.

Look for the download links on their sites that I have provided. Yes, ALL are free and no trial dates. All can record system sounds OR your voice. If you want to record your voice AND game sounds, get a sound recording software. That, I suggest Audacity. It is free also.

My criticism on each:

Growler Guncam – It has a rather clunky interface and it has a bit of organizational problems. Past that, videos you record are not rendered directly and you must choose them each to render into a proper movie format. It is a pain to use sometimes.

Camstudio – It has problems in regards to recording because it is a “beta” stage. However, Camstudio use to be an ACTUAL complete software with almost no bugs. I have the version before it was turned into a beta and the one after and I say the one before beta (non downloadable) is better.

BB Flashback Recorder – Probably the most bug-free and stable as this was made by actual commercial developers. They were nice enough to provide a free version. You can record voice AND system sounds (but it’s kinda glitchy for some reason). However, my only complaint is that the longer the video you record, the longer the rendering takes. All the other software I listed take no time at all to render videos to a computer-readable format.

Virtual Dub – The most fastest and takes almost no time to render the video into AVI format. You will have to get used to the interface though as it is ALSO a video editor/compositor.

You need help with any? Google how to do screen recording with any of these and you should be able to find results.

Now you can do a search for OpenSource video editing for windows and you will find a couple solutions and may include chroma key effects in them, but the issue is they are free and fairly basic.

My advice to you is to invest into premiere pro (best bang for your buck), or buy a proper greenscreen. Using construction paper will be a bitch, especially with free tools.

-READ THE COMMENTS. This is very important because if the torrent contains a virus, usually people will say so. On the flip side, if it is a good torrent people will usually say “thanks!” or whatever. If there are no comments on a torrent, I usually don’t download it.
-look for the number of “seeders.” More seeders = faster download.

3) When you think you’ve found a good torrent, download it to your desktop or somewhere easy to remember. This will be very fast. Then, create a folder where you want the music, movie, or whatever to be, and open the thing you just downloaded with uTorrent. If this is your first time using uTorrent you will have to do a couple of steps first, but the application will tell you those so I won’t list them here.

4) Make sure uTorrent is downloading the torrent to that folder you created or somewhere else you want to save that music or movie etc. Then click OK.

5) The torrent will start downloading. It may be slow depending on how many seeders there are, so give it time. For really big files (4+ GB) I usually have to keep my computer downloading it over night.

TIP: you can have your computer shut itself off automatically when it’s done downloading a torrent. Go to options, auto shutdown, and select “shutdown when downloads complete.”
