Although P2P sharing is legal, I’ll try to steer clear of the grey areas here. BitTorrent is great, I use utorrent myself, but either one will suffice.

The problem doesn’t appear to be your BitTorrent, but rather, the encoded video file itself. Most every full length “video” on these sites is more than likely encoded with DivX or related encoder. This happens because DivX compresses this huge “videos” down to a reasonable size (usually around 700Mbs). The problem with this is, you have to have that encoder installed on your system in order to view them. What typically happens is you get sound, but no video.

You have two choices:

1. You can download the DivX encoder and install it on your system. If it’s not DivX, then you’ll need to find the appropriate codec.
2. You can skip all that junk and just download VLC Media Player. It’s free and I’ve never come across one video it won’t play.

There are codec “packs” out there, that include a bunch of different codecs that you would need to see said videos. However, as stated above, with VLC player you just install and go. Good luck out there!

Movie files tend not to be affected by viruses, but watch out for executable files (.exe, .scr, .com etc.) masquerating as video files.

If you download a copyrighted movie from a torrent site (Pirate Bay IS bittorrent, by the way, it’s just one of many bittorrent trackers out there) then the film studio’s copyright lawyers may come after you. This is as true for adult movies as it is for mainstream movies.

They claim to track down your IP address. And will occassionally even show it to you. There are stories of them actually tracking people down and making them pay. But considering how many people freely watch movies, or download music, it seems futile. But at the same time, I never chanced it again when I got the same warning heheh. The site even directed me to another that played a video of celebrities asking not to pirate their work. I think the paranoia induced does the rest. Darn them.
But one will most times find better quality movies if they just watched them legally. Yes when you transferred them to you d drive you are ok. That was what I wanted to suggest to you. No need. You already did that.
Limewire normally does not slow down your computer unless of course you are downloading too many songs at the same time. Every download take away part of your internet speed.
So do not download more than 5 at the same time.
Now you can safely uninstall Limewire, I would suggest to do so and install Frostwire instead. Frostwire = Limewire Pro.

What ever you are going to do, either keep limewire or install frostwire, you should go to options and change there the download directory into the name you gave the directory on your d drive, where your songs are stored. Call it for example d:/My Limewire downloads
When you change that in options, all future downloads go automatically to that directory and therefor always safe
