Remember, there are 2 file extensions as far as flash is concerned. One is the raw .fla file which can be edited and the second is the actual .swf file.

If you download flash template check if it has the raw flash file too. Let me also tell you it is not very easy to modify a fla file as it may contain many movies and movies inside movies. It may also have actionscript embedded for buttons and other stuff.

Nothing, as long as you don’t sell it. It’s the same with recording movies off your TV. If you’re just using it for personal use, you’re fine; you’re only going to get in trouble if you start selling them.

But, I would check Youtube’s Terms of Service. You might not face any legal repurcussions but if it’s stated in the ToS that you can’t download them, they could ban you from the site, but that’s it.

I can recommend a couple of sites but there is a one time fee to join either of them. The fees are a one time thing, there are no monthly charges of any type and there are no limits to how many movies you can download.

According to both sites their downloads are 100% legal unlike bit torrent and other download sites. I kinda think this is a big plus personally. Getting to old to be going to jail or paying crazy fines over some stupid movie. 😉

So, from the POV of a library, DVD is still a safe bet. You can still play DVDs in the current and near-future players.

Downloadable media still has a long way to go. While pay-pre-view is being used by Foxtel, it is not common.

Until we start to see more flexibility with downloads (issues because of piracy) and larger and cheaper storage (at least a few terrabites) disks will still rule.

To burn: use Windows XP’s built in burning feature to just burn data files. If you want them to play on DVD or VCD players, download the LAST FREEWARE version of VCDEasy, and use the free version of TMPGEnc.

1. Convert using TMPGEnc to MPEG1 VCD standard format.

Seeding just means you are sharing the file with other people , you can stop this whenever you want but it is good manners to seed at least what you have downloaded. You never said what format your downloaded film is in , but i am guessing it will be something like an avi file. So if you want to watch it on a dvd player at home you will have to convert it first. Get yourself a program called ConvertXtoDVD , this will convert to a dvd and burn it to disc for you and it is very easy to use.
