Is illegal downloading the same as file sharing?
My friends download music through limewire and other file-sharing networks. I was just wondering if you can get in trouble for pirating music, movies, etc. Well of course you can get in serious legal trouble, but is downloading the same as file sharing?

Usually People are caught for Sharing there copyrighted material… Ie if a fed. Gets an entire song from you than you are busted (and they will than track who else you are sharing with…
Sharing=giving files over the internet “limeWire”
-It is only illegal when that material is copyrighted, A picture of you, or your bands music, or your word docs. Is legal through LimeWire and other sites, (that is why they can operate)
It goes the same way for downloading copyrighted material.
Rule of thumb, if you can buy the song/movie/picture etc. Somewhere it is copyrighted and therefore illegal to get for free no matter how you do it… Good luck

Please use iTunes or similar LEGAL buy-a-download site! You ought to know that it is ILLEGAL to STEAL COPYRIGHTED music such as this by downloading/sharing it for FREE (unless the copyrigh owner allows free download)! Would YOU work for 30+ years without getting paid?? I don’t think so!! Besides, having no money is NEVER an excuse to STEAL.

Oh and, I looked at one of the copies of the first episode of the first season, and for some reason it’s completely different to the DVD version.
Are there two versions?
Anyway, I’m after the DVD version, online, watch for free.

Can someone suggest some sites to watch TV shows and movies for free and LEGALLY?
I had been using this site for a while but just recently I found out it was completely illegal so I have stopped using it as I don’t want to get into any kind of trouble, but does it exist to watch TV shows and movies for free Legally? If yes, does anyone have some suggestions, and I’ll be checking through the legal stuff on each site suggested before using it so don’t suggest them if you know they’re illegal please. If they don’t exist, then thank you to anyone who can point that out to me!

How do I use torrent downloads?
A friend of mine told me to get “Bittorrent” to download movies, but i am not sure on how it works, or even where to find downloads. Can someone tell me how to use “Bittorrent” and where is a good place to find downloads?

Well, aside from the legal questions (on which you have to make your own mind up) here is step-by-step how you do it.
1) Download a torrent client. There are many of them, but I use uTorrent (google it) so just go with that for now, you can always get a new type if you like.
2) Go to a torrent-tracking site and look for a good one. One of the biggest is the Pirate Bay, so go there, search for what you want.
You will have many options, so to select the best you will want to:
-read the description of the torrent.
-READ THE COMMENTS. This is very important because if the torrent contains a virus, usually people will say so. On the flip side, if it is a good torrent people will usually say “thanks!” or whatever. If there are no comments on a torrent, I usually don’t download it.
-look for the number of “seeders.” More seeders = faster download.
3) When you think you’ve found a good torrent, download it to your desktop or somewhere easy to remember. This will be very fast. Then, create a folder where you want the music, movie, or whatever to be, and open the thing you just downloaded with uTorrent. If this is your first time using uTorrent you will have to do a couple of steps first, but the application will tell you those so I won’t list them here.
4) Make sure uTorrent is downloading the torrent to that folder you created or somewhere else you want to save that music or movie etc. Then click OK.
5) The torrent will start downloading. It may be slow depending on how many seeders there are, so give it time. For really big files (4+ GB) I usually have to keep my computer downloading it over night.
TIP: you can have your computer shut itself off automatically when it’s done downloading a torrent. Go to options, auto shutdown, and select “shutdown when downloads complete.”
