What’s a good alternative to Windows Movie Maker?
I’ve been using Windows Movie Maker for a very long time now to make music slideshows and was wondering if anyone knew of a free alternative?
I’m not looking for anything too complicated.
Basically something that i can use to make slideshows using my photos with music and also adding lyrics into the video. Transitions and effects too please.
Any recommendations?

There’s several editors you can use….
Take a look at the tutorials for Windows Movie Maker at
http://www.windowsmoviemakers.net/Tutorials/ – it may be WMM is all you need. It really is foolproof except that it’s picky in what file formats it takes and the lack of native support for multiple video and audio tracks are a definite disadvantage (but there are workarounds).
The version 2 series were probably the most versatile, you can find them here – http://www.brothersoft.com/downloads/windows-movie-maker.html – but you’ll have problems installing the older versions on Windows 7. Windows Live Movie Maker is still good, but not so versatile.

VideoLAN Movie Creator – http://videolan.org/vlmc/ – up to 64 audio and video tracks

VideoSpin – http://videospin.com/ – just 1 video track so you may as well use WMM

Ezvid – ezvid.com/ – 32 video and audio tracks
Another is Zwei-Stein. This is a good editor but I found the interface to be absolutely horrible.
VirtualDub, RAD Video tools, AVITricks and Avidemux are also good tools you should look at. Although not full editors like the others they have some useful features.
Lightworks and Wax together are a very good video editing system for free.
All are safe, at least from the sites I’ve linked to.

More costly are video editors like Sony Vegas and Adobe Premiere. Both of which are very good. Premiere is probably more advanced but harder to learn everything it can do.

Once you get your hard drive you can set it up using FAT32 following these steps.
Step1
Connect the external hard drive to your computer using your USB cord.
Step2
Open your “Start” menu and click on the following string of menu options: “Control Panel,” “Administrative Tools,” “Computer Management” and “Disk Manager.”
Step3
Select the external hard drive and give attention to the type of “File System.” If it reads “NTFS,” then right-click it and choose “Delete Partition.” This will ensure the partition you use is “FAT32.” If it’s not “FAT32,” then proceed to Step 4. If it is “FAT32,” then move on to Step 5.
Step4
Run an Internet search for “CompuApps Swiss Knife.” You’ll find the official website within the first few search results. Simply enter the site and download the free application. Once downloaded, install the program and run it. When you’re inside the program, choose the external hard drive that needs to be partitioned. Configure the settings in the following manner: “Partition Type–Primary,” “File System–FAT32” and “Volume Label.” Choose “Create” and your FAT 32 partition will be set up. Proceed to Step 5.
Step5
Open “My Computer” and click twice on your empty external PS3 hard drive. Right click within this area, move your cursor down to “New,” and select “Folder.” Name this folder “Photo.” Repeat this process to create three more new folders: “Music,” “Video” and “Game.” This will ensure the folders on your external hard drive are identical to those on your PS3.
Step6
Click the green arrow in the bottom right corner of your screen to remove and choose “Safely Remove.” Unplug your external PS3 hard drive once a message appears indicating it’s safe to do so.
Step7
Connect your external hard drive to your PS3 and enjoy.

The person above me is wrong. You CAN download games and DLC off certain websites but yes it is illegal. Don’t worry about it though the FBI isn’t gonna storm your house because you stole a video game.People download these types of things such as video games, music, and movies all the time, to arrest all these people would be idiotic.It is completely safe to download games off thepiratebay.org However as somebody mentioned you might not be able to use online play on certain games because it is a cracked version of the game but that can be easily fixed. If you’ve never downloaded a game before do a youtube search on how to download games of thepirate bay. I’ve been using this website and many others and i’m not in jail doing 25 to life for piracy.

Okay, The actual utorrent program will not cause any harm to your computer (if downloaded at trusted site). The thing that you need to worry about is when your pirating the data files (movies, music, games)you do not want to get caught, or get viruses. To make sure you don’t get viruses, read the reviews on the torrent to see if its buggy. Now to not get caught, immediately “Stop seeding” after the download is complete. Other than that you’re okay. I have this program also and have not got any viruses or gotten caught, and I’ve had it for while.
